Zero Population Growth Movement: POL 4900 Baruch College
The Zero Population Growth Movement was founded in 1968 with the intention of preventing population growth within the U.S. by 1980, and throughout the world by 1990. ZPG believed that overpopulation is a major contributor to issues relating to the environment, and will eventually to lead to a very low quality of life for everyone. ZPG set out to achieve its goal of reducing population growth through public education and lobbying, and through these methods, ZPG had retained tens of thousands of followers. ZPG members have three ideologies that they follow and share, with each being; families should not have more than two children, all means of birth control should be freely available, and tax laws should be revised to discourage rather than encourage large families.
